140 dogs euthanized in SPA (Society for the Protection of Animals) were laid out on the Magny-Cours circuit.
The owners gave their pets to death, because did not find anyone to leave them on vacation! The picture became a symbol of the road to the sea ... through betrayal and meanness. For their owners, vacation was more important than pets.

At the request of the photographer, 140 dogs euthanized in just two days were laid out on the track leading to the seaside resort!

"The picture was actually taken in 1980 by French photographer Manuel Litran. Manuel placed 140 dead dogs on the Magny-Cours racetrack in France. The dogs were two days worth of euthanasias at the local shelter. The image was meant to raise awareness of dogs being turned in to shelters during peak vacation months. The message is familys go on vacation and the family dog is left behind, i.e. littering the highway on the road to vacation destinations."

So uh.. the fact the pic is 40 years old might be nice to mention. This hopefully has improved.

How can anyone do that to their best friend/ or family member? That's usually what a pet is, too. It was a sick predicament for these beautiful creatures, especially when there are so many places to board ones pet. A lot of vets double over as pet motels, along with there being so many pet hotels out there, in general. So sad!
