Are These People Really Freaks?
A bunch to post, but, I have to post them each separately now. Tod Browning's, "Freaks," is one of my favorites! I highly recommend it! |

Re: Are These People Really Freaks?
Some are from the 1900s although born in the 1800s. I didn't compile them. The first one is most likely a parasitic twin. The second one looks fake to me. Harry Earles was in, "Freaks," and was one of The Lollipop Guild in, "The Wizard of Oz." I'm sure he did other movies, but, I remember those two. |

Re: Are These People Really Freaks?
I have always been torn on this subject. I'm old enough to have caught the tail end of freak shows. By then it was mostly fakes, some hairy woman and a fat man. That said....I understand the negatives associated with gawking at people that may be not quite like everyone else but dang, these people made good livings in their day. Now what is the alternative? Welfare? (Not knocking welfare, just wondering if making good money is better). Would I go today? Yeah, I probably would. I'd pay my $7.50 for a walk through. I helped my son do this subject for his social studies fair project. We (he) asked this question. I was surprised, he won his subject. Gooble Gobble. |
