Suicide of Okada Yukiko; Japanese Youth and the Yukko Syndrome
The suicide of Okada Yukiko Japanese youth and the Yukko syndrome  Yukiko Okada was a Japanese idol singer in the early 1980’s. She was adored by millions of fans and was recently ranked by the people of Japan as the 17th most important historical female figure in history. Okada went on to release a number of hit singles. Around 10 o'clock April 8, 1986, the 18-year-old Okada was found with a slashed wrist in her gas-filled Tokyo apartment, crouching in a closet and sobbing. Two hours later, Okada jumped to her death from the seven-story Sun Music Agency building. The reason for the suicide is still unknown. Her untimely death resulted in many copycat suicides and the christening of the neologism "Yukko Syndrome" in reference to copycat suicides in Japan.  Some of the teenage suicides committed in Japan during the first month after Okada's death have been attributed to something the mass media have called the "Yukko syndrome."' According to one unconfirmed report, l7 of the 31 juvenile suicides that were known to the police in the first two weeks or so after Okada's death were by girls, and 19 of the suicides were by jumping from a building.  |

Good question! However IDK  Though it doesnt spell it out, it does appears to have the same copycat suicide idealogy. Interesting term... "Wether Effect" = an increased suicide rate linked to media coverage of a suicide. Seems to be more common in Asia... |

I have to ask this, why did she kill herself? I mean she was getting famous and she was cute so what happend? I cant get that around my head DX
