Parisian Murder Victim, 1903
remember that scene in "weapons" where benedict wong's eyes are bulging out? take a good close look at miss julia guillemot who was murdered in her paris home in may of 1903... anyone with a medical degree know what the fuck happened to her face? the guy with the mustache at the end is "cizard", who apparently murdered her in an unknown manner; that's julia in the photo next to him. |

Re: Parisian Murder Victim, 1903
La découverte du cadavre de Julia Guillemot, assassinée à coup de marteau dans son lit par son amant Eugène-Désiré Cézard avec lequel elle habitait rue des Boulets, XIe arrondissement, Paris meaning she was murdered by him using a hammer which was found in the house, not the bedroom. Usally bulging eyes coz of strangulation but in this case the use of blunt force trauma it could be due to retrobulbar hemorrhage as the impact of the hammer causes massive internal bleeding and when blood accumulates in the space behind the eyeball(s) the pressure can force the eye(s) forward out of the socket(s) or the blow to the head can fracture the bones of the eye socket or the skull base and can displace the eye(s) or allow air and fluid to build up behind it, causing it to protrude. Or massive blunt force trauma causes the brain to swell and internal pressure to spike and this pressure can be transmitted through the optic canals, pushing the eyes outward. Crime passionnel often happened in that period and couldn't find a sentence for him being her lover. Juries at that time were often sympathetic to the emotional distress of the accused and often got lighter sentences like imprisonment rather than guillotine. |

Re: Parisian Murder Victim, 1903
my unfortunate only memory of visiting france as an young child is the park around the eiffel tower being so absolutely full of street peddlers advertising their cheap trinkets by harassing everyone who walked by...at least in the 1900s they took dope photos of murder victims.

Re: Parisian Murder Victim, 1903
I’m actually more intrigued by the look of the apartment interior. I didn’t realize that back then people slept and cooked in the same room. The wooden floor looks old and dirty, and the only source of light seems to be an oil lantern on the wall. The roof appears to be leaking as well. I’ve only seen this kind of aesthetic in movies and video games, so seeing an actual photo from that era is fascinating.
