I understand why they took pictures of their dead children, I just have a problem with the way they pose them sometimes, Sort of creepy.  |

Most the time the posing was to make them look alive because the usually never got the chance to take them before they died. take the final one for example, this is probably the only photo they ever got so they want to remember her as she was and now laid out on a bed or in a coffin. Momento Mori is a fascination of mine. |

That is right. People didn't have camera sitting around, so most of the time, this would be the only picture of a loved one. In some cases they did pose them to look alive. I prefer the ones where they look like they are sleeping. it seems more real and peaceful.

The little guy in the 5th picture looks like he has some injuries to his head. Always makes me wonder what the cause of death was. Great post!
