goldmine! i think the ones with big holes are from peru where they performed a type of surgery on people by drilling parts of their skulls off with rather severe cutting implements. This mummy shows signs of the skull bone trying to regrow.

Skulls are so cool Having your own skull on your shelf at home sounds great but unfortunately is a bit hard to realize...at least so you'd still be able to admire it yourself :
