Re: Pictures From The Armenian Genocide
'The Holocaust' in Germany was nothing compared to what happened in Russia under Stalin, few even know about it. Genocide is nothing new; in fact, it is been standard practice groups of men took up weapons and formed together to attack other groups. Kill your enemies, enslave their women and children, take those who surrender as prisoners, and eliminate their genes from the world so that your group can thrive and replace them... read the story of Ghengis Kahn to see an example of murder, genocide, and rape on an epic scale. |

Re: Pictures From The Armenian Genocide
I strongly oppose. In Russia we talk about 15-20 Million (or even 40-60) deaths and for the Holocaust it's about 6 Millions, but you can't just take the death toll and compare the two. The Holocaust is - legitemately - called *singular* for its surrounding circumstances, which are: - a relatively civilized and highly developed country (which the SU at that time just wasn't) in which the "every-day-guy" could spend a pretty good and comfortable life. - The Holocaust was planned LOOONG beforehand with paper pushers working out the actual exterminations (whilst in the SU, the killings were mostly "spontaneous") - A vastly supportive population. Many knew of it, some didn't, but the - silent - majority just closed their eyes before the truth (whereas the exterminations in Russia happened in very remote places and even today there is very little proof or even records about it) - Physicians took part in the extermination of the European Jews and left a legacy never to be forgotten in terms of what one human being feels up to doing to another human being. - The Concentration Camps had no other meaning than extermination in a clean and quick way. People walked in - ashes came out. They were factories of death and nothing but. That's *singular* by the actual meaning of this word and there can't be a comparison to British CCs in Africa or a Russian Gulag. I recently made a comment in this forum about the "Kentucky Electrocution Protocol" in which I said that the idea of paper pushers working out this protocol is even more disturbing to me than death penalty itself. Now think about thousands of these disturbing "officiary" executions per day... Think about the thousands of paper pushers contributing in this most heinous crime ever commited.... You just can't compare the two. There's a vast difference between a mass shooting in a Kamtchatkayan Bog and these Factories of Death right in the middle of Europe. The Holocaust as a crime against humanity was singular and Germans may never forget and may never relativize. On topic: In Turkey, you may not call this a Genocide or even say anything about it or you go to jail for a very long time ("Defamation Of The Turkish People"). What a fucked up law! |

Re: Pictures From The Armenian Genocide
Ok, so the Nazi Holocaust is your favorite, i get that. The level of technology and planning involved paired with the fact that it's the most recent atrocity make it the go-to example, but it is human nature. Look at the Khmer Rouge, systematic slaughter/relocation(death marches) of indigenous peoples in north America... Australia... the Hutu and Tutsi tribes in Africa. Genocide is as natural as civilization itself... human nature. |

Re: Pictures From The Armenian Genocide
Moo slums did this. Hitler got his inspiration for his Holocaust from the moo slum Turks committing the Armenian Holocaust previously. |
