Photograph of Ali Dinar Following His Death
Photograph of Ali Dinar, last Sultan of Darfur, following his death in battle in 1916 at the hands of Anglo-Egyptian forces. Ali Dinar was killed in Kulme, south of Zalingei. This "trophy photo" of him was taken by British troops right after his death, and is the only visual depiction ever made of a Darfuri sultan.[1] The photograph is currently preserved at Durham University Library (588/1/159). · |

Got to agree with Wolfie on that one. I was in the U.K. last month and everyone treated me much better than I deserved. Their a pretty good bunch. |

Re: Photograph of Ali Dinar Following His Death
Wonder why there's no other pics of Darfuri sultans? Maybe some religious thing?
