This is what happens when people put blind trust in doctors and scientists. Do your own research and read the same medical textbooks the medicinal students read. Don't defer to the judgement of doctors. Lobotomies were one of the worst failings of the medical establishment.

I agree with you, how can a parent do such a horrible to their child?? It makes no qsense. The stepmother most likely had a lo to do with it. This child's father and stepmother ruined. this kids life

Back in those days theyd labotomized, electrocute, douse with ice water, spin you round and round in a cage chair, keep you in a straight jacket, and all you had to do was be handed over by a fucked up family member. Scary...

I read his book. It was a good, quick, and interesting read. He goes into his home life, and terribly biased treatment by his stepmother, who undoubtedly convinced his father to have the procedure done on Howard. Definitely recommend it. It gives a fresh perspective on the feelings of both Mr. Dully, and the air of medical experimentation of the day.

My father remarried 22 days after my mother died of uterine cancer in 1968 - she died July 28th and he remarried August 19th. Unfortunately, the new stepmother turned out to be a sadistic, hateful, abusive cunt - what a surprise, huh?

This procedure was "perfected" here in WV at the asylum in Weston WV. The hospital is now a tourist attraction. (I posted pics elsewhere). The area where they performed the lobotomies is accessible on certain tours. It's located in an area that hasn't been restored yet. It's certainly a creepy ass place. If ever there was a place that was haunted (it's suppose to be but I've never seen squat and I've been there quite a few times) this would be it. While I've note seen nothing, the place overall is like no other I've been in. It just feels different. |
