I have mixed feelings with regards to Hiroshima et al, because I know the Japanese wouldn't have surrendered otherwise. It would have prolonged the war for years on end for they were far too proud a people.

In retrospect the allies helped to create (in my personal view) one of the most awesome countries this world has ever seen, for I firmly believe that Japan; as the highly developed and technologically advanced nation we now consider it to be, would never have become this were it not for these events.
