These are immensely important images. We can never forget what took place, lest we be damned to repeat it. My dad was one of the first Americans into Dachau. He was horrified how the living were stacked among the dead. And sometimes they couldn't tell if someone was alive. They had candy with them, but these people were in such a state of starvation that they couldn't receive food or water from the GIs, because of their physical conditions. |
