Homicide By Schizophrenic Husband
Story: A young woman was found dead in her bedroom with her throat cut so deeply that practically every major cervical vessel and all soft structures were transected. A second wound extended across her chest from axilla to axilla with transection of her sternum and several ribs, and a third wound traversed the lower abdomen from iliac crest to iliac crest with accompanying extrusion of several loops of intestine. In addition to these wounds, her trunk and extremeties were covered with innumerable recent superficial incised wounds and scratches. Little blood was present in the pleural or peritoneal cavities, indicating that death had occured before the abdominal and thoracic injuries were inflicted. Her husband, subdued, quiet, and blood-stained, was sitting unconcernedly in another room in the apartment. When questioned about a bloody kitchen knife in his hand, he calmly stated that God had told him to let the devil out of his wife because she was wicked. He was taken into custody immediatley and subsequent psychiatric examination indicated that he clearly suffered from paranoid schizophrenia. The number and severity of the victim's injuries furnished overwhelming evidence of the vividness of his hallucinations and the strength of his delusions as well as the maniacal quality of the assault. He was later committed to a state hospital for the criminally insane." |

Re: Homicide By Schizophrenic Husband
I had a neighbor who suffered from schizophrenia. He went off his meds for a few days. One day at work I was called to the job trailer because I had a visitor. It was my neighbor. He was checking to see if I was alright. My job site was in the middle of nowhere over 50 miles from our neighborhood. How he found me I don't know. Let me tell you, it freaked me out something fierce. Once back on his meds he couldn't remember doing it. |
