The gallows to be identical, though the location is obviously not the same.

Some similarities, yes. Though Stella had it a bit easier. 10 years in a labor camp was probably rough..but suicide at 72 is a far cry from strangulation on the pole. :/

I don't necessarily begrudge any actions that anyone takes during war time. Especially civilians. You do what you gotta do when you're living in Hell. But I guess they both paid in their own way for their choices.

He was lifted up by the harness, noosed, then dropped as one executioner forced his head back and the other pulled the ropes on his legs. Looks quite brutal, but he doesn't move at all. Presumably his neck was broken more or less instantly.
Shame, that means he probably didn't suffer like all of the Czechs that were imprisoned, tortured, and executed after Reinhard Heydrich's assassination.

Looks like it to me.

It appears to be a 3-D artifact whereas, I would think, that urine soaked earth would be likely to appear to be a 2-D artifact.

But...who knows?

Nah. Your eyes are likely reading it that way because the dirt around the base of the pole is piled higher and thus elevated slightly. The 'splatter pattern' is pretty clearly liquid and representative of her urinating while jerking her feet around during the strangulation, then tapering off as she finished and accumulating at the very base of the board itself.

Re: Herta Kasparova

Well, it would be very difficult to poop that much that 'neatly' under the best of circumstances, let alone doing the herky jerk while being strangled.

Re: Herta Kasparova

Thank you for this fascinating bit of history- I'd never heard of her before. Pics are great, especially considering how old they are. Also, this form of hanging is new to me as well.
