Actually it was her older sister, not her mother. I believe she was digging up potatoes when her and other civilians were gunned down from the air.

Powerful photo. The Germans shot at anything. AND so did the Allies. War is obscene; there no good guys or bad guys except in propanda. That said, just a quick note on semantics. The phrase "gunned down" is incorrect; it implies that the victim was armed and their gun was not pointed at their attacker fast enough (i.e., "gun down"). In case anyone's interested.

I've seen a lot of gore, but i find these old pics a lot more interesting and in a way more disturbing than any of those super bloody Syrian propaganda videos.
