Re: A Harvest of Death, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

I read somewhere that Gettysburg smelled like decomp for months if not years to come
How can that be true? It only takes so long for a body to decompose to nothing. It only stinks for a specific amount of time. Even with hundreds(or more) bodies, the stench can't be preserved when in an open, outdoor area.

It's a relatively quick process.

Re: A Harvest of Death, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania

Looks like the boot thieves got to them all before the undertaker did.
Could also replace "boot thieves" with "bare foot and starving guys"
