My Grandfather ( by marriage, not by blood) was apparently part of the corps or whatever their military name was , that guarded the German prisoners at Nuremburg. He was of Estonian origin and was part of the Baltic unit given this task by the Yanks. He never told me this, but after he and my grandmother had died, i had all their personal effects. I found a shoulder patch with the unit ?? number and Esto colours. A photo of him in uniform with said patch, and a military pass \ I.D. issued by Max.S.Leonard 1st LT, C.A.C. commanding. Somehow, he ended up in New York( 1947), got a temporary Esto passport whilst in" New Yorgis" for $3.82 and found his way to Australia and my grans pants!!! |
