My Grandfather told me about a night when the Germans bombed a graveyard on the island of Corsica, near where they were camped, during the Mediterranean Campaign. This resembles his description of the aftermath. Bodies in various states of decay hanging in the trees along with putrid clothing swaying in the breeze.
