Re: Evelyn McHale Jumped from Empire State Building (1 May 1947)
Evelyn McHale, 1947 In May 1947, Evelyn McHale, 23, was shot into space from the viewpoint at the plant 86 of the Empire State Building (New York, USA) after being left by her boyfriend. Fell onto the roof of a limousine at that time was empty. Evelyn left a suicide note in which he wrote: "He's much better without me ... I would not be a good wife for anybody." The left hand of the girl, already dead, seems to caress her necklace. A photography student named Robert C. Wiles heard the impact, went outside and took the snapshot that we see. This was published on 12 May 1947 in the cover of U.S. magazine Life. Andy Warhol performed in 1963 a table containing the image, titling 1947-White. · |

Re: Evelyn McHale Jumped from Empire State Building (1 May 1947)
Yes I remember seeing this posted before too. But how glamorous, I mean... Beautiful woman jumps off the Empire state bldg lands on a ... limo? She may as well have had a red rose in her mouth. Not that suicide is ever ok, but, her's was classy.
