Re: Death Photo of Ernie Pyle

I know Gomer and the rest of the citizens of Maybury RFD were never the same.

All kidding aside Erine was one of the good one's.

Re: Death Photo of Ernie Pyle

He really was An amazing corespondent,he showed,up close and personal the brutality of war, he wasn't afraid to get right in there, showing what our men had to endure! R.I.P. Ernie
he got my grandpa the bronze star when he was in the army. he wrote about my grandpa saving three soldiers after a tank had been disabled by artillery and Gen. Mark Clark saw the story in Stars & Stripes. and two days later, my grandpa had the bronze star, and my family never knew about it until after my grandpa's death in 2002.

Re: Death Photo of Ernie Pyle

are you saying that this IS Ernie Pyle, or he shot this photo?
because, the photo in my comment is that of Ernie Pyle circa a year before his death.

he may have shot this photograph, but it's certainly not him.

Re: Death Photo of Ernie Pyle

I wonder if that somehow ignited the whole "Private Pyle" jokes, stories, and movie rolls
