Re: Dead German Female Guard from the Ohrdruf Concentration Camp.
If you haven't been in war then when you criticize something that a soldier did you really are just voicing an uneducated opinion or are just being PC. War is an insane thing to begin with and shit happens to a soldier when he comes across piles of naked, dead and starved bodies and sees the skin and bone survivors. I have no problems with the Allies killing death camp guards or for letting those who were tortured by the guards, and survived their ordeals, return the treatment to the guards. |

Re: Dead German Female Guard from the Ohrdruf Concentration Camp.
I think we haven't a clue what prisoners who'd lost their families and watched, lived and breathed the most gruesome treatment would have felt right then and there! For any of us to understand... well, we too would have to live it, to then make any judgement. I've read and heard that the female guards were worse than the men. Because they knew how they could very deeply hurt the woman. Psychologically. |

How do I add here a picture from my computer? I found another image (unfortunately of poor quality) taken from the other side ...

In fact the female guard was shot with a Colt 1911 by an American soldier so the prisoners could beat her up because they were very weak, then the prisoners beat her on the ground as she lay slowly dying, according to a friend of my dad who was there, this was not made public though.

Re: Dead German Female Guard from the Ohrdruf Concentration Camp.
there is no bleeding from the wounds, perhaps they were inflicted posthumously (humiliation of the enemy). Was this woman a security guard? She is wearing a strange uniform that is not typical for the female staff of concentration camps. Perhaps this is one of the prisoners who collaborated with the Nazis?

Re: Dead German Female Guard from the Ohrdruf Concentration Camp.
The book title was "The Harrowing of Hell" written by a doctor from Albuquerque, NM who was in the first group to get to and liberate Dachau concentration camp. He was tasked with saving the emaciated and starving inmates. The camp was a giant biohazard with typhus and other diseases so the doctor had to treat the liberated inmates and remove sources of disease. I don't remember the authors name, I found an author signed book perusing a used book store in Albuquerque while I was waiting for an old friend to finish teaching a class at Univ. New Mexico.
