Woman Fatally Wounded By Estranged Husband CLEVELAND, O.
--Mrs. Mary Dietz Lechler, 28, city hall telephone operator who was shot by her estranged husband as she left building, died in a hospital today. Her 51-year-old husband, Carl, was taken to the hospital when it was thot at first that he had swallowed poison. Today, however, hospital authorities told police Lechler was "faking" illness. He was taken to the police station.

HOPES HE WOULD BE GIVEN CHAIR
—Carl Lechler, 51-year-old wife slayer sentenced to life imprisonment, was "disappointed" today that his life had been spared by a three-judge court. "I am disappointed in the verdict," the former city - ambulance driver said as he heard sentence. "I had hoped for something different. I hoped that you three eminent judges sitting there would see fit to give me the extreme penalty. I looked forward to it." Lechler shot and killed his estranged wife, .Mary, 28, last Aug. 10
