(Child Warning) Family of 3 Buried Together
On Jan 25, 1894 Mary Keller (aged 29) shot and killed her husband (aged 30), their baby daughter (9 months) and herself. After the birth of their daughter, she suffered from “hysteria” which probably would now be considered postpartum depression. She was hospitalized for awhile and seemed to recover and was sent home. About two weeks later she shot her husband through the heart, her baby through her body and herself in the head. The pictures are of the 3 of them in their casket, their headstone and their gravesite. They are at Home Lot 285 in Fort Hill Cemetery in Auburn, NY. Here is a 5 page newspaper article about it: http://nyscu.org/Archives/Universali...0A.%201894.pdf |

Re: (Child Warning) Family of 3 Buried Together
There were a lot of Swiss and Germans in the area. He was a member of the Herman society, which was made up of German-speaking people. German was spoken in a lot of places in the U.S. as normal language as late as the 1970's. I still remember it being spoken at Boelke's Hardware Store in Friestadt, Wisconsin, in the 1970's. Nearly all the farmers in that area were from Germany or Belgium. Nearly all of the early tombstones are inscribed in German. |

Don't think I'd really be happy spending eternity in the same box with the woman who killed me and my child. I guess he's more forgiving than I am...
