B&W to Colour Murder Picture
Amazing.....This photo was taken on June 17, 1915, and called Double Homicide - but actually depicts a bizarre murder-suicide. Barbara Cornelius, 25, was shot twice in the temple by her admirer George McAghon after he climbed into her first-floor apartment and surprised her about 1.15am. She struggled on the bed while on her knees until he shot her, then put another bullet in her head for good measure. McAghon then shot himself dead beside her, having been upset she had recently married. Her husband Carman was awoken by her screams but could not get to her in time. The coroner had little difficultly declaring the cause of death and the struggle that led to it, but the background proved difficult for police to untangle. McAghon was identified by his boss as an assistant railway yard manager and father of six, shocking his friend who never believed he could be capable of murder. Mr Cornelius said he never saw him before and the neighbors were similarly in the dark - but the victim's apartment turned up two postcards that became important clues. They were both addressed to 'Bessie', a nickname for Ms Cornelius, from McAghon and written in a familiar tone giving her well-wishes

I love the early 1900's. I mean how many murderers to you see these days dressed so dapper? People these days just don't give a shit anymore. |

Husband awoken by the screams but didn't get to her in time? I wonder about that part of the story. Were they in different rooms for whatever reason and was he blocked from entering the room? |

Re: B&W to Colour Murder Picture
I’m not sure if sleeping in separate rooms was common for married couples until fairly recently, but even my grandparents slept in separate rooms until my grandfathers passing and neither had/have even hit 75 yet
