The picture shows German RAF left-wing-terrorists Andreas Baader and Gudrun Ensslin as they were found dead in their isolated prison cells in "Stammheim" Prison, Stuttgart, on 18th of October 1977. Their accomplice, Jan-Carl Raspe, was also found dead. Another prisoner, terrorist Irmgard Moller, was found with four stab-wounds in cardiac region. The "Stammheimer Todesnacht" (death night of Stammheim) is one of the - dodgy - "highlights" of the so called "Deutscher Herbst" (German Autumn):
On the 5th of September 1977 RAF-terrorists kidnapped the president of the "Confederation of German Employers' Associations", Hanns-Martin Schleyer. In the kidnapping Schleyer's driver and 3 policemen were killed. A funny thing is, that the terrorists pulled guns from baby strollers as soon as they had stopped the car, lol. The terrorists claimed all RAF-prisoners to be released, but the german government did not agree. Then, on the 13th of October, the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, that was allied with the RAF, highjacked the "Landshut" airplane, shot Captain Jurgen Schuhmann and landed it in Mogadishu, Ethiopia. They also claimed the RAF-terrorists and several of their own people to be released. Then, on the 18th of October, German Special Forces GSG9 attacked the airplane and ended the highjacking without any casualties. Soon after, the before mentioned terrorists were found dead in their prison cells. Hanns-Martin Schleyer was found shot in the trunk of a car on the 19th of October.
Altough the terrorists were soon declared suicidal, there are many conspiracy theories surrounding this incident. One of the reasons is the isolation in which the prisoners were held. How could they come in property of the guns Baader and Raspe shot themselves with? Why did Moller stab herself four times and how could she achieve this? How could the terrorists become aware of the ambush in Mogadishu since they were isolated? Also there are several questions about the death of Ensslin who allegedly hung herself at the radiator.
Some questions are answered yet, some are not.
One of the really laughable facts is, that the attorneys smuggled the guns, radio receivers and even boiling plates(!) into the cells. One of these attorneys was later German Minister of Internal Affairs(!) Otto Schily, another one still Member of Parliament Christian Strobele.
Conspiracy theorists, most of them left-wings, claim the prisoners to be killed by guards and that the killings were ordered by the adminintration of then chancellor Helmut Schmidt.
If this was real, it woud truly be a scandal because the "Deutscher Herbst" is still one of the most discussed and most important incidents in younger german history.
