Dead bodies of Apostol Petkov, Georgi Kasapcheto and Vasil Pufkata. .Date: 1911. Apostol Petkov or the Sun of Enije Vardar (May 6, 1869, Boymitsa , today in Kilkis Prefecture, Greece - August 2, 1911, Giannitsa, today Greece) was a Bulgarian revolutionary and one of the leaders of the revolutionary movement in Aegean Macedonia He is considered ethnic Macedonian in the Republic of Macedonia.He was a leading komitaji in the bands of the Bulgarian Macedonian-Adrianople Revolutionary Committees and took part in the battles against the Ottoman authorities as well before the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising as after it. Later, he was one of the organizers of the military struggle against the Greeks in Macedonia - still under Ottoman rule, but with both sides trying to establish their position in the area towards that rule's impending end. Petkov was killed, under unclear circumstances, in battle against Turkish gendarmes on August 2, 1911.  · |
