10 Nasty Torture Devices

BREAST RIPPER
Th breat ripper looked like a pair of forceps but with two very large claws at the end of each handle. The ripper could be heated until it was red-hot and used to brand the breasts of unmarried mothers. For those condemned for worse sins, the ripper was used to tear the entire breast off

HEAD CRUSHER
The head crusher resembled a modern vice grip turned on its side. The person to be tortured placed his chin on a bar while a metal cap attached to a bolt was screwed onto his head. The bolt was turned slowly, causing the victims to be crushed. A lack of confession could result in death, beginning with the eyeballs popping out, the teeth shattering, and finally the brain being released through skull fractures.

CAT'S PAW
It sounds innocuous, but far from it. The paw looked like a garden rake with the ends sharpened and curved. It was often attached to a handle for easy use. The person performing the torture would often rake the victim's body with the Paw, which was so sharp it could strip flesh right to the bone.

KNEE SPLITTER
As its name implies, this device builty of spiked wooden blocks would be placedon either side of the victim's knee and screwed together until their knees split. Its design made it possible to use on other joints, such as elbos and wrists.

JUDAS CRADLE
This is the only device on the list still being used today (mainly in Latin America countries). The Judas Cradle is effectively a sharp tall stool, topped with an incrediyl sharped pyramidal top. The victim would be lowered anus or vagina onto the tip of the pyramid. The torturer could apply as much of the victims body weight as he wanted.\

SCAVENGER'S DAUGHTER
This torture device was designed by order of King Henry VII. It was an A-shaped frame that would completely encircle a kneeling man, who would then be squashed until he bled from his nose and ears.

SPANISH DONKEY (they ought to name drinks after these things....)
This device was similar to the Judas Cradle, but instead of lowering the victim onto a spike, they were lowered (with a leg on either side) onto a long board shaved to have a razorlike edge. Heavy weights were attached to the victim's legs. There are story that some were torn in two.

CHOKE PEAR
The choke pear resembled forceps used in difficult births. They were inserted into the mouth, anus, or vagina of the victim and expanded by use of a screw. The tips of each segment were spiked, causing both ripping and cutting. The device was used on different body parts, depending on the crime.

CROCODILE SHEARS
These horrible pincers were reserved for men who attempted to kill the king. They were shaped like pincers but instead of jaws and blades they formed a pipe lined with jagged teeth when closed. The shears would be heated until they were red-hot, clamped onto the victim's penis, and ripped it off.
