Zoo Caregiver Poking a Giant Crocodile That Takes Revenge
Every year between 800 and 1000 people die as a result of crocodile attacks. As they appear to be slow, humans believe that when approaching this animal nothing will happen. However, it is important to make it clear that only 6, of the 23 subspecies of crocodiles, are considered aggressive. Last Sunday (17), a 4.5 meter crocodile attacked a caretaker during a performance at the Crocodile Creek theme park in South Africa. The animal bit the man's leg, causing serious injuries, almost tearing off his genitals , after being provoked with a piece of wood. Visitors to the park managed to record images of the exact attack. In the recording, the caregiver was inside the animal's enclosure in Ballito, in the province of Kwa-Zulu Natal, when he was violently attacked in the leg by the giant reptile. After the episode, the victim was immediately rescued and taken to Victoria Hospital. A park staff member stated that the caregiver “had a serious injury to his right leg, near his genitals. The crocodile involved in the incident is the second largest reptile in size and bite force in the world, behind only the saltwater crocodile. |

Re: Zoo Caregiver Poking a Giant Crocodile That Takes Revenge
When I was about 8 my parents took me to see alligator wrestling in Florida. The guy wrestled a couple alligators, and I talked to him afterwards. He told me the secret is to clamp their mouths shut with your hands, and they are then helpless. They have incredible jaw muscles when biting, but virtually no strength when trying to OPEN their mouths. He told me a piece of string tied around their snout is enough to make them helpless. So he would attack them and force their mouths closed, and then wiggle around on the ground while the alligator struggled, to put on a good show for the crowd. Another thing is that alligators and crocodiles operate at an energy deficit, which means they have very little endurance. That is why they just lay around in the water, waiting for prey to get close enough to grab. If you can hold them off for a minute or so, they become exhausted very quickly, and will give up the attack after just that brief time. So if you are going in the swamp, take some extra shoelaces with you. That way the searcher's can tell that you AREN'T inside one of the crocodiles that have their mouths tied shut. So you're probably inside one of the OTHER crocodiles, the ones who DON'T have their mouths tied shut. Or maybe Bigfoot got you anyway. |

Never heard about that energy deficit trait. Very interesting. I would not expect a wild gator to attack a human adult who is upright. In my mind, gators will attack swimmers, people on the ground (near water) and especially little doggie snacks on strings. Wild gators will retreat and disappear when I approach in a kayak, and will lurch for the water when I approach on land. Gators that have been fed by people or are used to being around people I would not approach. I would never mess with a croc. |

What an amazing animal. And what a complete fucktard. I’m sorry his femoral artery wasn’t severed and too bad there wasn’t a nice pond of water to drag him into and take him for a spin or few. |
