A few days ago a young girl was found hanged near the American River in Sacramento, CA. She went missing at the end of June and was found about ten weeks later.

Unfortunately, it was her mother who found her. I'm curious as to the state of the body after hanging for ten weeks in an area without rain, an average daytime of 35C/15% humidity and a nighttime of 15C/70% humidity.

I've searched DR and could find nothing representative. Any experts here?

Here is the story.

A UC Davis student apparently hanged herself after leaving a Sacramento mental health facility in June.

Linnea Lomax’ mom said she was the one who found the 19-year-old’s body in an East Sac park last Friday.

Lomax’ parents talked with media reporters Tuesday morning, describing the moments when they found their daughter’s body.

Marianne Lomax says she was with a handful of friends when they smelled something odd in Glenn Hall Park on the north side of East Sacramento.

She says she walked around smelling plants and brush to find the source of the odd odor, making her way to what she described as a beautiful area near the river. It was there that she found the body of her daughter, with what she called apparent signs that Linnea had hanged herself.

“I crawled through on my knees and hands and came to a pretty place, right by the river. The river was there, there was really nothing else there. And then, I saw my daughter. I looked for two seconds and I knew it was her and I ran up screaming,” Marianne said.

Marianne said she had been praying that God would help her find her daughter, and she says God answered her prayers.

“I prayed to God that he would take me to her, or have her come to me. That’s been my biggest prayer for the last few week," Marianne said.

Lomax was taken to a mental health facility along Howe Avenue over the summer after her Freshman year at UC Davis.

She was last seen leaving the clinic on June 26, without her phone, wallet or medication.

Lomax' parents said their focus now is raising awareness about mental health issues, so that what happened to Linnea doesn't happen to anyone else.

“We look forward to playing our part to save lives. We are looking to partner with those who insist on increasing mental health awareness and adjustments that need to be made to the law,” said Linnea's father Craig.

They want to raise awareness so no one will ever commit suicide again? That doesn't seem like a very practical goal to me... :/

I am all for idiots off-ing themselves.

Just dont do it to train drivers or other people. Plenty of cliffs and quiet spots for you to lay siege to your guts.

Just because someone has a mental illness and offs themselves doesnt make them idiots. She had a disease that unfortunately killed her.

i understand what is being said. but why ruin some else by having a train hit you or something like that. mental illness does not make an idiot. an idiot ruins people's lives by having them kill them. not cool.

If someone kills themselves in a violent way, I don't think they're in their right frame of mind to care about who else it will effect. The people they leave behind and the people who witness it/find them. They don't care about their lives anymore, why care about anyone elses?
