Muslim teen creates clock, shows teachers, gets arrested  I personally think that this is going to antagonize any MUSLIMS here, and definitely will give the JIHADISTS JUSTIFICATION for the horrific things they want to do. CNN)When Ahmed Mohamed went to his high school in Irving, Texas, Monday, he was so excited. A teenager with dreams of becoming an engineer, he wanted to show his teacher the digital clock he'd made from a pencil case. The 14-year-old's day ended not with praise, but punishment, after the school called police and he was arrested. A photo shows Ahmed, wearing a NASA t-shirt, looking confused and upset as he's being led out of school in handcuffs. "They arrested me and they told me that I committed the crime of a hoax bomb, a fake bomb," the freshman later explained to WFAA after authorities released him. |

Uts going to piss some of them off.....and IN THIS CASE,...rightfully so. I have my reservations about Muslims in general in the West under the current conditions but I really dont think this child would have shown the clock to anybody in advance if ANY harm was intended. |

This is outright insanity. From the photos shown, all he did was repackage a digital wall clock into an aluminum stationary case. I don't see any evidence of any creative work or building supplimentary circuitry to brand this kid a genius at 14. At the same age, I was building circuits on breadboards from schematics in magazine articles. Point I'm making is any idiot even without any technical knowlege should be able to immediately discern that this is just a clock in a box and not a bomb or bomb hoax. Ethnicity is not the issue here. It's the post 9/11 paranoia and zero tolerance attitude in schools that's dumbing kids down and creating a chilling effect on creativity and learning. I've followed the news stories all morning from the outrage to obama's invite. One thing that I don't see being debated is calling out the english teacher, school administrators, and the law enforcement that escalated and overreacted. Nobody seems to be trying to hold them accountable. Yeah, I know, they're doing their job and if you see something, say something. However, stupidity and ignorance and also lets through in some racism/profiling into this mess. Some heads need to roll and be held accountable to set an example to others. Attitudes like this are stifling our younger generations interests in STEM fields. This isn't a Muslim issue, it's happening all over the country over the stupidest things and then an unaccountable overreaction occurs. |

Today in Irving, Texas, 14-year-old MacArthur High School student Ahmed Mohamed was arrested for bringing a homemade clock to school that officials felt resembled a "hoax bomb." He will not face charges, but officials took what they deemed were necessary precautions. President Obama took to Twitter to support the young man and has invited him to the White House.

It's difficult to judge this situation without knowing a lot more. Did the clock look like a bomb? I mean, kids get expelled for bringing a cheap little red water pistol to school that no one believes is a real gun. It probably was an over reaction to cuff him. I understand they wanted to make sure the clock was actually just a clock. Kids shouldn't bring homemade electronic devices to school. But the craziest part is Obama inviting him to the White House. Because he's Muslim. I don't care what anyone says, that's why he was invited. |
