Re: Women Face Dramatic Increase in Painkiller Overdose Deaths
I could have been one of those women. I am a recovering heroin addict and I have overdosed twice. Thank God that someone was with me both times and they resuscitated me. My addiction started at 16 due to dental work and subsequent prescriptions. Tennessee, where I unfortunately happen to live, is number one in the country for drug overdose deaths. There's a higher purpose why I survived, to pay it forward and help others who are taking the same path that I did. Peace and love to all the addicts out there who are still sick and suffering. |

Re: Women Face Dramatic Increase in Painkiller Overdose Deaths
A high amount, pardon the pun, of the increases is due to methadone being prescribed for pain conditions. Methadone is too long acting and has a llooonnnggg half-life. Notorious all over the books for causing accidental and not so accidental overdose deaths. Do not let a doc give you this except for opiate withdrawal, ask for some other short acting O. And for Mercy's sake dont take painkillers unless you really need them. Addiction is a living hell nightmare with no wake-up.
