Woman Shoots at Dog, Kills Husband
Woman Shoots at Dog, Accidentally Kills Husband in Mississippi Updated: Monday, 18 Jul 2011, 12:11 PM CDT Published : Monday, 18 Jul 2011, 12:11 PM CDT (NewsCore) - A family was grieving Monday after a Texas woman accidentally shot and killed her husband while trying to fend off a pit bull that threatened their grandchildren. Betty Walker and Robert Walker Sr., of Houston, were visiting their son's Jackson, Miss., home Friday when a neighbor's eight-month-old pit bull named Cocaine jumped over the fence, The Clarion-Ledger reported. Robert Walker Sr., a 53-year-old retired engineer, threw a brick at the dog while his wife rushed their grandchildren into the house. She returned outside with a .38-caliber revolver, finding her husband holding the barking puppy with both hands. The grandmother fired two shots -- the first striking her husband in the upper right chest, the second hitting the dog's left front leg, the paper said. Robert Walker Jr. heard the shots and ran outside. He reportedly found his mother screaming, "I shot your daddy! I shot your daddy!" The son then backed his pickup truck into the yard, lifting his father onto the tailgate while waiting for the police and an ambulance to arrive. Walker was pronounced dead at a hospital around 5:00pm. "It was a freak accident," his son said. "I don't know what else to say." A spokeswoman for the Jackson Police told The Clarion-Ledger Saturday that the shooting was under investigation. It was not clear whether Betty Walker would face criminal charges. The injured dog was taken in by animal control officers and its owner, Lazarius Montgomery, could also face charges. Montgomery claimed he was asleep when the incident occurred. The Walkers were married for 32 years. They had four children together. "My mom loved my dad," their son told the paper. "They traveled the world together." "She said, 'Please forgive me. I killed your daddy.' We told her she was only trying to protect him." Source: The Clarion-Ledger Read more: http://www.myfoxhouston.com/dpps/new...#ixzz1STvVBTb6 |

Re: Woman Shoots at Dog, Kills Husband
Another fact that seems to prove guns should not be held by the general public. Just my opinion. She could have killed anyone if that bullet had gone astray. I get why she fired it, but good god, firing guns willynilly is never a good idea, especially when you are under pressure or panicking. I hate guns. And don't say 'guns don't kill people, people do'. Guns were designed for one reason only, to kill with. |

Re: Woman Shoots at Dog, Kills Husband
Think I could do that to my exhusband and get away with it? He lives right around the corner, so it's technically possible. My son just said "You probably shouldn't kill Dad. Wait til I finish college." |

Re: Woman Shoots at Dog, Kills Husband
obviously that stupid bitch probably didn't have too much experiance with guns. this is why if you want to own a gun or rifle you should get some kind of extensive training on how to handle them. this bitch seems to have had no training with guns. fucking just plain fucking stupid! |

Re: Woman Shoots at Dog, Kills Husband
"She returned outside with a .38-caliber revolver, finding her husband holding the barking puppy with both hands." Why was she trying to shoot the puppy while her husband had it restrained? Oh, because it was a Pit Bull type dog, and therefore, a monster. And yes, people have a choice whether or not to own a firearm. If they choose to, they have a responsibility to be trained to use it safely. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say this bitch is stupid. |
