A Tennessee woman has been hospitalised after she tried to remove $5,000 (£3,226) from her rectum.



Christie Black had stolen the cash from her boyfriend and put it in her ‘hiding place’, before she was injured trying to remove the money.

The 43-year-old reportedly used a toilet brush and tongs to try to pry out the stolen goods, but ended up ‘bleeding severely’, according to police.

Black is charged with theft and an arrest warrant has been issued after Hawkins County Sheriff’s Office was called to the home she shared with boyfriend Bobby Gulley when the incident happened.

Mr Gulley complained that she was stealing from him after he had ‘set a trap’ to see if she would take the cash he had placed inside two envelopes, in a medicine bag.

He said he left the medicine bag on a foosball table and went to bed. When he woke up he found the money was missing and Black was still awake.

Mr Gulley confronted his girlfriend who allegedly vomited up a bag of slightly dissolved pills and confessed to wrapping up the cash and sticking it in her rectum.

HCSO Sgt. Michael Allen said: ‘Black admitted to taking the money and medication because Mr Gulley was going to kick her out and she needed money for a place to live.’

On trying the remove the cash, he added, ‘she was bleeding severely and was transported to the Hawkins County (Memorial Hospital) emergency room.

‘The wad of money was removed and collected as evidence.’
