A WOMAN has managed to escape after being held in a torture chamber rigged with bombs set to explode when her kidnapper had finished with her.
The Israeli victim was snatched off the street on Friday and held in a makeshift cell in a flat in Germany.

Cops arrested kidnapper Thomas Fischer, 30, after the woman fled in handcuffs when he left the chamber's door unlocked.

She lunged herself headfirst through a window covered in barbed wire in a desperate bid to get away.

Fischer had rigged up a telephone booth with soundproofing that he turned into a cell for his 26-year-old victim.

He had a "vast array" of medical implements in the apartment — including scalpels, needles, gynaecological instruments and syringes.




And chillingly he had practiced cutting a plastic mannequin in the flat in the port city of Hamburg before grabbing the woman.

The bombs were packed into fire extinguishers that were so volatile police had to evacuate 300 people to safety when his terrifying lair was discovered.

A Walther pistol and a hand grenade were also found at the flat.

The woman was held for two hours before her escape. She bravely brought police back to the apartment where stunned cops uncovered the sick torture chamber.



A spokesman said: "The whole two roomed apartment was rigged up as one massive torture chamber.

"With this big old fashioned telephone kiosk soundproofed as the cell for his victim."

Police said the pair knew each other after being introduced by a friend but that there was "definitely no relationship" between them.

They added that Fischer had turned into a stalker and spoke an obsession on the part of Fischer to own her.

Cops compared the case to that of kidnapped Natascha Kampusch in Austria where loner Wolfgang Priklopil held her for nearly nine years in a secret cellar at his home.

Media reports said Fischer wanted to get the woman pregnant.

Another said he planned to keep his victim in the flat for months before detonating the explosives he built using fertiliser after researching bomb-making on the internet.


He rigged up a camera outside the door to his apartment so he could observe who was trying to get in and had huge planks stored in the basement designed to seal the windows, cops revealed.

Senior public prosecutor Wilhelm Möllers said: "It is evident that the apartment was meant as a place of confinement for some time."

Neighbours said that Fischer was regarded as a loner but had helped collect post and carry groceries for elderly tenants in his block.

He has not said a word since his arrest.

I'm guessing maybe it was to the rear of the building so it wasn't seen or thought someone was highly paranoid about being burgled
