Re: Woman Has Stroke on Tv Live!
My mother had one in 2004. Fortunately, my niece caught her. My mother acknowledged she was hungry, but used her left hand with no utensils and she is right handed. She picked up the food with her hands. I washed her down, dressed her and called EMTs after calling her doctor. Fortunately, medication dissolved the clot, but, she lost peripheral vision on her right side and can no longer drive. That bummed her out big time, but, she refuses to try to walk outside unless she is at a grocery store pushing the cart. She has better long term memory than short term and was 67 when it happened. They made women tougher back then and she likes to cook on Sundays. The doctors told her to talk to her like we normally do. I took a radio and told them to keep it on one of two stations she liked. We knew she was ok when said, "Get me the fuck out of here! I want to go to my house!" They wanted her to stay in rehab longer and talk to other patients since she did well, because her brain gets confused and she uses alot of wrong words, but, we can figure it out if she is in front of us. |
