Woman Found Hanging by Seatbelt After Driving Off Cliff in the Rain
Marie Mendoza Staff Writer dailynews.com January 24, 2013 10:40 PM GMT A young woman was hoisted to safety after her car drove off a cliff on Mulholland Drive during a rainy Thursday morning. The incident happened at 9:40 a.m. in the 12000 block of Mulholland Drive just west of Skyline Drive, leaving the woman trapped in her vehicle against a tree for nearly an hour, said LAFD spokesman Erik Scott. Woman found dangling from seatbelt after going over the side on Mulholland Firefighters found the woman hanging by her seatbelt, upside down. Fire officials say her seatbely probably saved her from being ejected from her car as it tumbled down the hillside. The rescue took the efforts of 50 firefighters to help secure the car and the safely extricate the woman from her vehicle, Scott said. They had to carry her some 300 feet up a muddy hillside. The condition and identity of the woman has not been released, but she was transported to a local hospital. There was no passenger or others involved in the crash.
