Wife Accused of Murder After Funeral Home Finds Stab Wound Cops Missed

http://abclocal.go.com/wtvd/story?se...cal&id=9190361

A woman whose husband was killed in a traffic accident in Harnett County is facing a first-degree murder charge after the man's family questioned the circumstances surrounding his death.

Maj. Jeff Huber of the Harnett County Sheriff's Office said 32-year-old Toni Marsha Talley is charged in the death of David Lokeith Worley on July 19.

Huber said Worley's family contacted the funeral home handling the arrangements and voiced suspicions about the death, but he didn't say what the concerns were.

The funeral home's examination discovered Worley had a stab wound in his back. The state Medical Examiner's office confirmed the findings the next day, saying in an affidavit that Worley was stabbed with an 8-inch butcher knife and that one of the wounds had punctured a lung.

The medical examiner's office said the stab wound was the cause of Worley's death, as it would have caused Worley to lose control of his motor skills within an hour, according to the affidavit.

The N.C. Highway Patrol said Worley was traveling toward Spring Lake when his vehicle ran off the left side of the road about 16 miles southwest of Lillington and hit a ditch culvert. The patrol said Worley's vehicle, traveling about 90 mph, overturned several times, struck another ditch culvert and came to rest in its top.

Worley wasn't wearing a seat belt and was thrown from the vehicle, according to the patrol. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Talley is being held in the Harnett County Detention Center under $200,000 bail. It couldn't be determined if she has an attorney.

Wonder if he was trying to get himself to the hospital?

I'm thinking that is what happened. Someone witnessed the argument he had with his wife and her stabbing him, that's how the family found out. I'm guessing the man jumped in his car to get medical help and to get the hell away from his wife. Unfortunately, he passed away (punctured lung) and that's what caused the accident.

What I don't understand is how someone (Medical Examiner?) must have pronounced him dead at the scene with little to no investigating. I guess a car accident with that many roll-overs would seem cut and dry. But I thought the police were looking for gun shots on him because they thought he might have been involved in an earlier situation?

I don't know why some people rush to bury people.

Some bruises don't show up right away
