Chilling audio of gunfight released

Audio of the moment the killers were shot has since been released.

"We believe POI [person of interest] two may be discharging rounds. Shots fired,” a male officer is heard saying over the radio.

“It appears POI two is attempting to reload. POI one potentially taken a round here. POI one no movement. No movement from number two and appears to be blood on the ground,” he adds.

Police Commissioner Katarina Carroll said there was "considerable" weaponry involved in Monday's events.

“The scene is unimaginable, it’s distressing and in my view, those officers did not stand a chance – and I don’t know how two got out alive,” she said, referring to the survival of the two officers as a "miracle".

“To think they survived the scene, let alone then got out to make phone calls and call for assistance was just extraordinary."

Killers' final sickening act
The trio's final sickening act before being shot dead has also been revealed.

As the 16-person extraction team attempted to retrieve the bodies of Constables Arnold and McCrow, they were shot at, according to Queensland Police Union president Ian Leavers.

He told NCA Newswire, "after [the ambush], as the 16 went to retrieve Matt and Rachel, that they were fired at continuously".

“They put their lives on the line to try to retrieve their colleagues in the hope they would be able to render first aid and save their lives but sadly that didn’t happen."

“It just brings a tear to the eye … it was a despicable act by this murdering, evil trio of people who were out here to cause harm,” he added.

Leavers said Constables Arnold and McCrow were “executed in cold blood”, and described the officers involved in the Darling Downs incident as "heroes".

“They’ve really stepped up, they haven’t thought about their safety, they just thought about their colleagues."

Leavers also paid his respects to the neighbour, Alan Dare, who also tragically lost his life.

“The neighbour who went to investigate was shot in the back by this murdering trio. These evil people were clearly on a mission which none of us will ever comprehend.”

There's been an outpouring of support for the family's of the fallen police officers and the wider police community since the tragedy.

Leavers told NCA Newswire the Dalby area had been "doing it really tough".

"In Chinchilla they’ve run out of flowers," he said.

“Seeing little kids and elderly people pay tribute shows how much they actually respect police and what they do."

“Often it’s only in tragedies like this that you see the silent majority come out and show respect for police."

Crazy, they were all well liked people within the education system that just seemed to go nuts…the woman hadn’t worked since the vaccine mandates came in, I wonder if that was another big trigger into their world of anti government conspiracy theorists etc

Wondering if the authorities will find other dead people that they killed, on isolated ranches near there, over the next few weeks. No way to tell how long they have been in a psychotic state.
