I'm no expert on Aspergers but I don't think murderous rampage is a symptom. Basically, and again I'm no expert, Aspergers falls in the Autism spectrum and people with Aspergers have difficulty in social situations. They have trouble interpreting people's intentions or emotions based on signals like facial expressions or even the words people use. They have trouble with eye contact and forming friendships. They also tend to be super focused on usually one particular subject and can become very knowledgeable and talented in that subject. Just because people with Aspergers have difficulty in social situations does not mean that they are bad or evil or would ever harm someone else. I believe that whether or not this person had Aspergers, it had no impact on why he did what he did.

Edited to add: The guy who designed all of the pyrotechnic displays for the rock band Kiss, John Elder Robison, has Aspergers. He wrote the book Look Me In The Eye based on his life and his struggle with Aspergers. I highly recommend the book.

I guess that was the one thing he studied and excelled in. I know of no injuries to the Kiss members or any fans from pyro incidents.
