Sad seeing these people living in oppression like that. Kill the old guard and bring in the new generation.

Knowing we arent going to help them is an awful feeling. Especially when we gave them this false hope. I voted Trump. But this is such a dropped ball.....

Re: War Crimes Against Iranian People by IRGC

Was reading about this revolutionary guard extremists the other day and how they're rooted deep into the Iranian economy as well. $$

While the IRGC receives official funding through Iran's national budget, allocated for defense and strategic research, including shares of oil revenues directed by the Supreme Leader the organization generates significant additional revenue through a vast economic empire.

This parallel economy is estimated to control up to a third of Iran's GDP, often through monopolistic practices, no-bid contracts, and illicit activities that evade sanctions and oversight.

The IRGC dominates major sectors via affiliated companies, securing lucrative government contracts without competitive bidding.

This creates protected monopolies and patronage networks.

Through its engineering arm, Khatam al-Anbia, aka Ghorb, the IRGC handles massive projects in roads, dams, pipelines, railways, and urban development.

F.i, it has secured billions in deals for oil and gas fields like South Pars, plus international contracts in regions like the Middle East and Africa. Annual contracts from Tehran alone are valued in the tens of billions of USD.

This generates revenue from project fees, employment (often via Basij militias), and resource control.

Beyond official oil allocations, the IRGC extracts and refines hydrocarbons, builds refineries, and operates terminals.

It profits from subsidized energy for activities like cryptocurrency mining and engages in illicit oil sales via a "dark fleet" of tankers, using ship-to-ship transfers and rebranding to bypass sanctions, yielding high margins.

Control over telecom firms (e.g., mobile services in Syria) and major ports allows revenue from operations, imports, and logistics. This includes dominating energy ports and using them for smuggling.

The IRGC is closely tied to tax-exempt bonyads, which manage confiscated assets from the pre-revolution era and operate like conglomerates.

Entities such as Bonyad Mostazafan (Foundation of the Oppressed) and Bonyad Shahid (Martyrs Foundation) control over 500 subsidiaries in agriculture, industry, tourism, transportation and mining.

These generate billions from real estate, farming, and resource extraction, with little public accountability.

Revenue supports IRGC operations while providing social welfare to loyalists.

The IRGC invests in irrigation, farming (e.g., large-scale projects in Syria), food processing and distribution of staples like wheat and livestock.

This allows market manipulation, price control and profits from supply chains, often tied to the "resistance economy" for self-sufficiency.

They have a monopoly on dams and mining (e.g., phosphates in Syria) diverts resources to IRGC-linked firms, generating income from exports and domestic sales while contributing to regional shortages.

They also have involvement in pharmaceuticals, education, health and real estate adds diversified streams.

To supplement formal operations, the IRGC engages in black-market and sanction-evading tactics, often yielding high profits.

They're using unofficial ports and border checkpoints, smuggling goods like alcohol, narcotics, tobacco, weapons, and untaxed items, with estimated annual revenues up to an estimated USD 12 billion. Also profits fund regional allies and military programs.

Mining and trading crypto (via exchanges like Nobitex) evades sanctions, facilitates payments, and launders funds for arms and cyber operations.

Revenue from extorting businesses, trading scrap metal and arms sales to groups in Iraq, Syria, Yemen and Lebanon.

These activities have grown since the 1980s, particularly under presidents like Rafsanjani and Ahmadinejad, who awarded no-bid contracts to the IRGC.

Western and opposition sources highlight their scale and opacity, estimating control over 20-60% of the economy.

Sustainability remains strong in the medium to long term due to diversification and regime support, despite international sanctions.
You can kill or elect/replace their supreme leader, President, Guardian council or Assembly of experts, who, theoretically, choose/dismiss the supreme leader but in practice, it has never challenged the current supreme leader Ali Khamenei and functions largely as a loyal, conservative institution.

But as long as the IRGC exists and their influence is deeply rooted into the economy etc. not much is going to change imo.

Israel killed several top IRGC figures back in June so that weakened their structure, a bit, but they got replacements although they're considered less experienced but learn fast.

Major General Mohammad Pakpour, appointed after Salami's death, being a former ground forces commander and a reliable hardliner.

Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi, Deputy Commander-in-Chief being a Veteran commander (former Quds Force head in the 90's).

Brigadier General Esmail Qaani being the successor to the late Qassem Soleimani and now Quds Force Commander doing external operations/proxy wars etc.

Brigadier General Mohammad Karami being their ground force commander.

Guardian Council Clerics:
Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati being a longtime Secretary of the Council being in position since the 80s/90's and an ultra-hardliner, age 98+ ffs
Mehdi Shabzendedar Jahromi.
Mohammad-Reza Modarresi Yazdi.
Ahmad Hosseini Khorasani.
Alireza Arafi being a prominent hardline cleric, often mentioned as a potential future influential figure
Ahmad Khatami and being a well-known conservative Friday prayer leader and staunch Khamenei loyalist.

Leadership of the Assembly:
Chairman: Ayatollah Mohammad-Ali Movahedi Kermani being a hardliner, ultra-conservative and close to Khamenei.
First Deputy Chairman: Ayatollah Hashem Hosseini Bushehri.
Second Deputy Chairman: Ayatollah Alireza Arafi being a prominent hardliner, also influential in Qom seminary and Guardian Council circles.

Killing 13/14 of the above and you can maybe start some real revolution but Iran maintains very strict gun control laws and private firearm ownership is heavily restricted, with no constitutional right to bear arms. Only for hunting, sport shooting or to protect live stock in rural areas.

The government has as of 2025 tightened these laws further, imposing harsher penalties for unlicensed possession and even criminalizing online promotion or sales of weapons because they're already sensed something brewing among the population.

There still is a thriving underground black market though for firearms but mainly in the border areas and prices range from roughly $240 to over $2,000 depending on the weapon.

Well, what can I say!?
Most of these/those sad things aren’t happy things.

I suppose I could get angry and get my panties all in a wad but that takes too much energy.

It’s not funny nor disgusting but I’d be more than *happy* to have you help me pick better emotions.
