This bright young woman holds the title for the first woman ever to win the prestigious Utah Highway Patrol’s Trooper of the Year in 2007. And now the Biggest Liar of the Year. Steed, who made a career of pulling over alleged drunk drivers, is accused of falsifying police reports by claiming sober drivers were drunk. Not long ago, Corporal Steed was snatching up arrests left and right. She really became drunk with power when these arrests earned her accommodations and accolades. But in November she was smacked off her pedestal with allegations of misconduct. Though the Highway Patrol would not discuss Steed’s dismissal, a lawsuit is claiming she falsified dozens of those arrests during her 10-year career. According to the lawsuit filed Dec. 14 in District Court in Salt Lake County, Steed made a career of pulling over drivers who she claimed were driving drunk or under the influence. There was only one problem. Some of the drivers Steed arrested had not been drinking, or at least not enough to be reasonably impaired, according to the lawsuit brought by a group of Utah lawyers on behalf of two plaintiffs. In several cases, those who were arrested did not drink alcohol, said Robert Sykes, one of the lawyers who filed the complaint, which names Steed and the Highway Patrol as defendants. In many cases, people passed the sobriety and breathalyzer test with flying colors…And were still arrested. The UHP is not commenting on the case, but Sykes says for at least two years, they were aware of Steed’s alleged misconduct. In a memo obtained by the local news agencies, a fellow officer warns Steed’s reports could threaten the DUI squad’s credibility. “11 out of 20 arrests showed no impairing drug in the system. Four of them had nothing at all,” read the memo written by a fellow officer. “She continually, regularly charged innocent people with a serious crime driving under the influence on a regular institutional basis for years,” Sykes said. “Despite the fact that her superiors knew she was doing it.” Steed is appealing her termination. *hehe* Appealing her termination? :thefinger" /> This bright young woman holds the title for the first woman ever to win the prestigious Utah Highway Patrol’s Trooper of the Year in 2007. Re: Utah Police Officer Caught Making Fake Arrests
The cops in this town beat a guy so bad he lost eyesite permanantly in one eye, he was arrested for a made up reason because he was filing charges against the county... He had to drop the civil charges to defend the fictional criminal one... he beat that and he just got 1.8 million in a settlement none of this ever made the news... Corruption is everywhere

Re: Utah Police Officer Caught Making Fake Arrests
I know not all cops are bad, but the vast majority seem to be on these kinds of power trips. I'm all for everyone being great at whatever it is that they do, but when you're ruining someone else's life in the process, fuck you! DUI and DWI charges are extremely serious and not something to mess around with.

Re: Utah Police Officer Caught Making Fake Arrests
My friends that are cops say their supervisor will tell them they are below average compared to other officers and they need to write more. They aren't told how many though.

Re: Utah Police Officer Caught Making Fake Arrests
It doesnt really work like a quota, my grandpaw was a cop. If you work a third shift as a cop and the average tickets an officer issues is near 40 and you have one cop that signifigantly below that average each month he will have to answer for them in a yearly or semi yearly review.
