I don't know the credibility of the allegations made in this case but I do know Iranian history very well to tell you this should been examined within a greater historical context.

It won't be an invasion. That would like Afghanistan times ten. The Iranian people are authoritarian and despite their complaints, they'd rally around the flag. The Islamic Republic plays many cards- nationalist, Islamist, sticking up for the underdogs, imperialist, etc. It's a very diverse regime whose religious undertones are all part of a package that is nowadays more for show than anything. They are practical authoritarians, like the Chinese communists. If it is to fall, it would be through inner turmoil. The US will probably attack Iran, but it won't cause the regime change. Iran would be a more formidable military opponent, but a easier war than either Iraq and Afghanistan. Iran is more developed, a more educated people. With a large young population that would see us as liberators. And more capable of securing their own futures with our militarys help. It would be ignorant to not believe our military and cia are not already involved in creating the footing for these Iranians who will work with us.
