Re: US and RUSSIA in Danger of Returning to Era of Nuclear Rivalry.

Russia is barely hanging on economically. There's no way as of today Russia could afford to go to war with America.

That shouldn't even be their focus, but it seems Russia believes to be a rich and powerful nation they must be American enemy.

I believe Russia does really want to be involved in all facets of global politics and economies. It just doesnt know how to do it properly yet; it feels that to be considered a world power it has to rattle its sabres constantly, to be taken seriously. It has to learn that aggression doesnt necessarily equate with wealth or respect.

It's a Russian Identity Crisis.

The Russians have, at their core as a 'culture', a massive Inferiority Complex.

They are just being "dogs that return to their vomit".

US and Russia in danger of returning to era of nuclear rivalry
American threats to retaliate for Russian development of new cruise missile take tensions to new level

The Guardian, Sunday 4 January 2015 18.00 GMT

A widening rift between Moscow and Washington over cruise missiles and increasingly daring patrols by nuclear-capable Russian submarines threatens to end an era of arms control and bring back a dangerous rivalry between the world’s two dominant nuclear arsenals.

Tensions have been taken to a new level by US threats of retaliatory action for Russian development of a new cruise missile. Washington alleges it violates one of the key arms control treaties of the cold war, and has raised the prospect of redeploying its own cruise missiles in Europe after a 23-year absence.

Heres a thread for rob, nik, TheVrist, MrPoo, et al. You know who you are. Comments? I like your posts by the way. Good reading
Can I also draw your attention to the fact that this article mentions a guy called Pavel Podvig, who I have mentioned in quite a few posts pertaining to this type of stuff. He runs a website called http://www.russianforces.org/ which is a goldmine full of info about all of the Russian Strategic Forces; missiles, subs, planes, the lot,all updated frequently with news of launches etc., He wrote a book called Russian Strategic Nuclear Forces, oddly enough lol. I own a copy of it; I would defo recommend it to anyone even remotely interested in this stuff. Its not cheap, but I always value quality over quantity anyway. Book is here:http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/AS...ssiannuclea-20
The ruskies are coming..

I see that a little in them. It would explain why they tend to get all giddy when there's any bad news out of the west. And why they focus on foreign economic problems but won't really discuss their own.

But there is a lot of nationalism in Russia. Americans aren't half as patriotic as Russians. And Putin uses that. Even in Ukraine in the areas dominated by Russian nationals or the ethnic Russian population. They fight for Russia.
I don't know why they don't just move to Russia, instead of being in a country like Ukraine that doesn't particularly like Russians.
And who can blame them, Ukraine suffered greatly under Soviet rule.

Re: US and RUSSIA in Danger of Returning to Era of Nuclear Rivalry.

The average Russian Joe is like the U.S' common Joe, they don't know much better than what they get taught from their own government.

The Average Russian Joe thinks that they are stuck in poverty, because of Americas imperialistic hold on the world's economy. And they do believe, destroying America would reward them with lifestyles they perceive us all to have in the states.

Re: US and RUSSIA in Danger of Returning to Era of Nuclear Rivalry.

A perfect storm as such.

1: Opec, mainly the Arabs in their nice shiny sky scrapers are pumping out oil to destroy the US shale industry which is laughable. Shale has been and always will be a quick on/off source. It is not the main producer unless it becomes profitable to do so.

Costs are prohibitive at the moment due to cost-per barrel.

2: Russia thinks the US has somehow engineered this Opec development despite hurting their own economy.

3: Russia is cut off from outside aid and money markets. If you do business with Russia you are going to be hit with sanctions yourself

4: US/NATO shield and military mobilisation near Russian borders.

5: Ukraine problem. This will not go away anytime soon. You have too many factors going on.

6: EU recession and widespread growing anger towards Islam and immigrants.

Like Ukraine these issues will not improve. Immigrants from Africa and the worse hit areas in the ME will continue to flow and they will bring about social and political change.

When Greece buckles under the weight of what it owes along with Italy, Portugal and Spain, things will develop like an avalanche.

When Germany has large protests on its streets and a rising political party against immigration you know there is a problem.

This is not a movement full of skinheads shouting Nazi slogans, these are normal people. People choose their own kind before anyone else.

Now take this into consideration and know that history repeats itself. We have been here before. Recessions and depressions are the catalyst for conflict and war.

If Germany starts to go under the whole thing comes down. They under writ every debt in the EU lala land.

China used to try this, but just can't as much anymore.

North Korea is doing the same thing as Russia.

Russia is circling the drain under Stalin/Hitler/Putler.

It's almost certain that OPEC not lowering it's prices, combined with America now being the biggest oil exporter, was engineered to hurt Russia.

Russia's entire economy is based on energy. The sanctions did nothing to hurt Putin, but as a result of falling oil prices Russia is in economic crisis.
