November 15, 2013 Investigators have found a jawbone after digging for evidence as part of an investigation into a soon-to-be-fired Philadelphia homicide detective. Philadelphia Police crime scene investigators began searching for clues in an alley near a baseball field at 4th and Westmoreland Streets in North Philadelphia on Friday afternoon. Police confirm the search is connected to a probe into the case work done by former homicide detective Ron Dove. Dove, a 16-year veteran of the force, was suspended with the intent to dismiss earlier this month for allegedly lying to police. Officials say Dove helped his girlfriend, 33 year old Erica Sanchez, after she allegedly murdered her ex-husband, Cesar Vera, in September. Sources say the detective allegedly moved Sanchez' vehicle from the crime scene, allowed her to use his car, hired her an attorney and told other detectives to, "go easy on her." Officials recently began reviewing several other murder cases he worked after the allegations surfaced and say they uncovered information that Dove may have mishandled evidence in at least four cases. The families of two murder victims told NBC10 they had serious concerns about Dove's handling of the investigations. Eileen DiFrancesco, the mother of one of the victims, 45 year old Leslie Delzingaro, believes Dove bungled her daughter's case. Her daughter, a saleswoman, was shot to death inside a Olney bar in 2010. That bar was owned by the father of Dove's girlfriend. Sources say during Friday's search for evidence, investigators dug up a jawbone, which was taken into evidence. It is currently unclear whether the bone came from a human. Philadelphia Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey did visit the crime scene to oversee part of the investigation, sources said. Philadelphia Police crime scene units have finished their search for the evening and plan to resume digging on Saturday morning. *UPDATE* Human Remains Found in West Kensington Area Updated at 07:22 PM Action News WEST KENSINGTON (Philadelphia), PA - November 15, 2013 (WPVI) -- Police dug up human remains in West Kensington and say the excavation relates to the investigation of a former Philadelphia officer. The former police detective was suspended with intent to dismiss following issues with his reports of three murders. In addition, an ex-girlfriend is also missing. I updated some info. All of my text vanished. I cannot edit the OP now. Here is the update. Re: *UPDATE* Human Jawbone Found in Detective Dig in Philadelphia, PA
It's a very interesting case. It's never good when someone entrusted with protecting civilians has not only committed crimes, but helped at the very least in the aftermath of a murder. Terrible.

Re: *UPDATE* Human Jawbone Found in Detective Dig in Philadelphia, PA
Waiting for the new news clip to be posted by the news. They have photos of everyone involved. Action News WEST KENSINGTON - November 15, 2013 (WPVI) -- Police dug up human remains in West Kensington and say the excavation relates to the investigation of a former Philadelphia officer. The discovery was made in the vicinity of 4th and Westmoreland streets late Friday afternoon. Crime scene investigators made the gruesome discovery of what is believed to be a human jaw with teeth. The area was immediately sealed off by police as an active crime scene. Police had been looking into the disappearance of Reynaldo Torres, who was believed to have been murdered and buried in North Philadelphia. He was last seen back in May, 2012, with 22 year old Melanie Colon. Colon was shot six times and her body was dumped behind an apartment building in Juniata Park. Investigators believe that then-homicide detective, Ronald Dove, had information on the case and others that he did not pass onto the department. This because of a possible conflict of interest with someone he was romantically involved with 33 year old Erica Sanchez. Sanchez is now in custody for the stabbing death of her ex-boyfriend, Cesar Vera, in the 3300 block of the N. 5th Street in Kensington. Dove was also the investigator in the murder of 45 year old Leslie Delzingaro. Back in July 2010, she was shot in a bar owned by the father and uncle of Dove's girlfriend Sanchez. The case was never solved. It all reads like a complex series of murder mysteries complicated by a homicide detective who may have been trying to throw investigators off course. All of the cases allegedly had some sort of connection to his girlfriend or her family. Earlier this month, Police Commissioner, Charles Ramsey, said he had heard enough about Dove and ordered his suspension with intent to dismiss in 30 days. While that's the case, Dove has not been charged with any crime. Police continue to investigate. |
