Two Teens Accused of Using IPhone App to Impersonate Police

http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2013/...app-to-police/

At least two drivers who thought they were being followed by the police Sunday near the Coastland Center mall actually were being followed by a couple of teenagers using an iPhone app to imitate officers.

Just before 7 p.m., a Naples police officer patrolling the mall’s parking lot noticed an unmarked tan Ford Ranger pickup flashing red and blue lights while driving behind another car, according to an arrest report. The officer recognized the driver, later identified as Ryan McMahon Schulze, and stopped the truck because he did not believe he was in law enforcement.

Schulze, 19, and his passenger, Matthew Levi Davis, 18, told the officer they “were just messing around” because they were bored while waiting on a friend who worked at the mall, reports stated. The two later said they had been using an iPhone app called “Police Lights” that mimics actual emergency lights and sirens, police reported.

A text message found on Davis’ phone said, “Another person pulled over,” according to the report.

While searching the teens’ truck, the officer also found a marijuana pipe with a small amount of marijuana left inside.

Schulze, of the 300 block of Pindo Palm Drive in East Naples, faces a felony charge of impersonating an officer and a misdemeanor charge of unlawful use of blue lights. Davis, of the 800 block of Seventh Avenue South in Naples, faces the same charges, plus misdemeanor charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Who's dumb enough to pull over for a Ford Ranger? I hate those trucks and the kids don't even look legit in the face. They look like drug addicts....but I go download this cool app right now :)
