Re: Two Idiot Kids Die Drinking Racing Fuel
Here's another cool fact Everyone is alway's so affraid of Asbestos/asbest.. But these day's not a lot of people realize it was legaly used until the early 90's as brake padds on cars Some reports from the 80's say in certain European tunnels the amount of Asbest particles was up to 38.000 ppm I wonder why not all the people born before 1990 don't have died from lung cancer yet |

Re: Two Idiot Kids Die Drinking Racing Fuel
It was to stop the problems associated with auto-ignition of the fuel under compression. Principle among them was "micro-welding" that occurred on valves as a result of engine 'knocking'. Engine 'knocking' happened when the fuel prematurely auto-ignited as a result of compression. (At least I think I have that right. lol!) This explains why “Tetraethyl lead” was added to gasoline in the past. http://www.todayifoundout.com/index....d-to-gasoline/ |

Re: Two Idiot Kids Die Drinking Racing Fuel
So was this a accident or did they actually drink this knowing what it was? I can't remember the details but I'm sure its on here of another guy involved in racing who died on camera, burnt alive and you didn't see a hint of a flame. Scary |

Re: Two Idiot Kids Die Drinking Racing Fuel
Correct-a-mundo.. I'm surprised that engines from that Era suffered from pre ignition. The octane ratings for that gas must have been in the high 70 - low 80's range. I think I have to replace the valve seats on my 79 Trans Am, because the 455 Olds in it was probably not upgraded to hardened seats. It involves taking the heads off, but I'd rather dig into it before disaster strikes. Besides , it'll give me the excuse to upgrade to Mondello ProMaxx heads. |

Sounds like something a trump supporter would/should do |
