Twins Joined At The Spine

Doctors in America have successfully separated baby twins who were born joined at the spine.

Le Bonheur Children's Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, said the 13-hour procedure was the most complex ever performed in its 59-year history.
An MRI scan image released by Le Bonheur – known in the US for cutting-edge brain tumour work – shows how the babies, from Memphis, were connected at the lower pelvis and spine.
The hospital is due to release further details at a news conference later.
Conjoined twins are extremely rare, with the occurrence estimated at between one in 50,000 and one in 100,000 births.
The condition is more common in females. Just over a third of conjoined twins survive only one day.
