Re: Turkey Police Raid Critical Zaman Newspaper in Istanbul
What keep their hopes alive is the fact that it's the second-largest military force of NATO. The biggest problem is that upon joining the EU, Turkey would have the 2nd largest number of members of the European Parliament, the first in 2020 according to some Demographic projections, (but there's the 96 seats limit). Turkey has more or less the same hopes as Morocco to join EU, with the difference that Turkey, unlike Morocco, has 3% of its territory in Europe. About the 70% of Europeans were opposed to Turkey's membership in the European Union in 2011, go figure now that it's a well-known fact that Turkey is the favorite backdoor to Europe for terrorists and benefit seekers, as they did NOTHING to stop them: they're not interested at all in fighting ISIS, fighting PKK comes first in their list of priorities. Plus, France, Germany and Austria will always oppose full membership of Turkey to the EU Finally, the long list of technical issues: look at the Negotiation progress: they must successfully complete negotiations with the European Commission on 33 of the 35 chapters of the acquis communautaire, but they are far away from the target. And a lot of other issues, like failing to recognize the armenian genocide and failing to modify Article 301 of the Turkish Penal Code. Of course, they won't fully join EU tomorrow.... |

Re: Turkey Police Raid Critical Zaman Newspaper in Istanbul
Well, whatever potential positives that Turkey might offer - in the future - if they behaved like they could is negated by the inescapable fact that moo slum Terror Supporting Turkey is UP TO NO GOOD. The West is transfixed and guided by what they would like Turkey to be...rather than what it actually is. Turkey is not Westernizing. Turkey is devolving. Heading back into the Dark Ages with their moo slum DEATH Cult bullsh*t. |

Re: Turkey Police Raid Critical Zaman Newspaper in Istanbul
Like all dictators they know controlling the media is a pre. Also Erdogan is so full of himself it's embarrassing. Sunday on the cover of Zaman. The first time it appeared after putting it under state control Friday. Article about an ambitious building project approved by Erdogan, a 3 billion dollar bridge. Picture and story of funeral of martyrs who were killed after fights with Kurdish rebels. And of course Erdogan himself shaking/holding hand of a woman due to international women day March 8. |

Re: Turkey Police Raid Critical Zaman Newspaper in Istanbul
Erdogan is spending the money he made buying stolen oil from ISIS. Also, Erdogan himself is pushing the moo slum invasion of Europe. While Europe is stupid enough to send Erdogan BILLION$ to fund his continuing moo slum invasion of Europe. Turkey, because of Erdogan and his ilk, is a backstabbing nation. All the moo slum cuntries are laughing at the stupid foolishly blind imbecilic West as they continue to invade in a moo slum takeover bid. When you see photos of Erdogan smiling and laughing...that's why. |

Re: Turkey Police Raid Critical Zaman Newspaper in Istanbul
I ve read the notes of the meeting of Merkel, Erdogan, and EU folks lately. for making a deal of the amount of Eur. financial support. for E. is the restart of the EU-Turkish talks a "natural" demand. In the end a EU topper says that T. has not made progress on the EU conformity. And that the EU does not see this changing. And not added..."so those talks will be fruitless from the start". I read an article "Qua vadis Turkey?" where the Dutch Elie Budink was interviewed for her insight as she lived till recently in Turkey. 1: Erdogan got to power cos the progressive elite neglected the rural poor. |
