Transgender Woman Shoot & Kills His Ex-wife, Sibling and Himself at Hockey Game
On Monday, February 16, 2026, a shooting occurred during a high school hockey game at the Dennis M. Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, resulting in several deaths. According to the Pawtucket Police Department and local reports, the shooting stemmed from a domestic dispute. Court records and statements from family members indicate a long-running conflict regarding the shooter's gender identity and mental health history, which had previously led to a divorce and legal battles. The game between North Providence and Narragansett high schools was being live-streamed when the shots were fired, causing mass panic. No players or coaches on the ice were physically injured, but the Rhode Island Interscholastic League suspended all upcoming games in the wake of the tragedy. Police identified the gunman as 56-year-old Robert K. Dorgan, who also used the name Roberta Esposito, a parent of a North Providence High School student playing in the game. Dorgan targeted 5 family members and a family friend sitting in the stands. Dorgan's ex wife and one of their children, a sibling of the player on the ice, were killed. The deceased sibling was the suspect's younger son. Two other family members and a family friend were critically injured and transported to local hospitals. The shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after being confronted by a bystander—a father from the opposing team—who attempted to disarm him. A daughter of the shooter who was present at the police station described her father as "very sick" with long-standing mental health issues.    |

They've definitely not been making a good argument against it as of late. They are literally 1% of the population yet the percentage of them who turn violent or were in the past is staggering. I have always supported ppl being themselves but at some point you must recognize mental illness and treat it. Idk what a fair solution would be but we have no idea what's next. |
