UPDATE ON THIS STORY:

Just tonight Chance was released from Cook's Childrens Hospital to the care of CPS and is currently in foster care.

Both parents were KNOWN to CPS, and are Meth and Amphetamine users. According to CPS, it was not unusual for the parents to be asleep while Chance played around the house unsupervised.

Chance's grandma (not the one arrested above) wants to take custody of Chance, and apparently will fight for it.

Why the hell she didn't do this in the first place is beyond me. This was just a sick situation all the way around.

My heart just goes out to all children who live in such a fucked up family.

I can overlook someone selling pot, or bootleggers in dry counties, maybe even some pills. Meth has no place in society in my opinion. I know some would say wrong is wrong, and it is.

I used to smoke pot like it was going out of style, and still do drink every once in a great while, but it does not interfere with my abilties as a parent like meth would. This just fucking sucks period, poor kid.

I know I've both been thru and put my family in hell over them.

In this case, it's sad that something wasn't done since it seems it was common knowledge.

My opinion it was a case of pack mentality gone wrong. You know how it is. One gets a toy or treat and they all want in on it.

Maybe Chance went to play with the dogs, and maybe one or two became too rough for the little guy and knocked him down, and it went from there.

Just my best guess as a dog person.

I was thinking maybe they started fighting over something and he got involved somehow. I watched my sisters boxer rip the others ear off when they got into a fight and he bit the hell out of my sister who tried to break it up when she saw olive was hurt. Now you put 4 fighting and a little guy getting mixed in and it is a recipe for disaster. Thats why babies have parents damn it.

BTW, I've broken up quite a few dog fights over the years myself (and come away with my own wounds!). I'll never figure out why they go for the ears...
