Suspect dead after Crossroads stabbing

Eight people were injured and the suspect died at Crossroads Center on Saturday after a stabbing was reported about 8:15 p.m.

St. Cloud Police Chief Blair Anderson said the victims were stabbed. An off-duty police officer from another jurisdiction shot and killed the suspect. Anderson did not say where that officer serves.

St. Cloud Police Sgt. Jason Burke told the Times multiple victims were taken to the hospital.

Just before 11 p.m., St. Cloud Hospital Communications Specialist Chris Nelson told the Times that eight patients were taken to the hospital; seven others had injuries that were not life-threatening; one was admitted.

During a news conference that started after midnight, Anderson said the attacker who was armed with a knife reportedly made references to Allah during the attack and asked at least one person whether they were Muslim.

But Anderson pointedly declined to call the attacks an act of terrorism, saying the motive for the attacks isn't known yet. "We will be diligent and get to the bottom of this," Anderson said.

Sydney Weires was shopping at the mall with her friends, Jenna Remmele and Maggie Gelke, all three freshmen at the College of St. Benedict. Weires said they got to the mall at about 8:10 p.m. and started shopping in stores near J.C. Penney.

They were walking down the hallway toward Sears when they heard a loud scream.

"I saw this security guard sprinting down the hallway toward Target," Weires said. "He was yelling, 'Call the cops. Call the cops.'"

Much like they are treating New York - despite terrorist acts, they won't actually call it terrorism.

CNN had a guy on earlier about NY saying "it could easily be a disgruntled employee who left two explosive devices 4 blocks away from each other, it happens all the time"....

Despite this attacker shouting about Allah and asking if people were Muslim, it's "not terrorism".

it's good.....they need to stop calling it terrorism....

having terrorists doing these deeds gives moderate muslims a means of staying separate from the perpetrators......if we stop calling them terrorists eventually we'll just start calling them muslims and there will be no line for moderates to hide behind......it's perfect, we need to see them ALL in the same light....they are ALL cancer whether they are planting bombs or not

I think it is because they are pissed their ISIL head guy that made those videos was killed along with a bunch of other people in their group. It really sucks for non-terrorist muslims because this is just going to increase the suspicion and hate.

Just because right wing anti government terrorists have killed many more people since 9/11 doesn't mean anything. We should still not judge sovereign citizens, militia groups and such based in their actions and words.
